Five Hooks is the aptly named EP from LA-area based FM:
five catchy songs that showcase a range of styles, from glittery
rock to the more straight-forward, and finishing with The
Game, a moving ballad with accentuated vocals that evokes
comparisons to Queen.
The
listening experience is brief (one’s in and out
in just over twenty minutes) but it’s riveting each
step of the way. FM’s sound includes a number of starts
and stops—some techno, some scratching even, overlaying
modern musical engineering and production to traditional
song structure. These guys don’t shy away from the
sentimental, and the songs benefit.
