Oh what a night, real busy with players & drinkers, A night to let your hair down which Mottram literally did (but couldn’t do a thing with it!) The `58`s opened the Jam with a couple of numbers they will be adding to their set list (work in progress) note no group photos !
58 Deluxe are Bryan (voc, gtr), Tony S (harp), Tony M (bass), Mario (drums) they performed:- ‘One Way Out’ ‘Reconsider Baby’ ‘Hoodoo Woman’ Our friends from the Sutton Blues Collective (see links page) were on stage next. It was a treat to have a rootsy blues sound with acoustic guitar, banjo, harp & snare drum. We look forward to their return with more of the Collective in tow. Known as ‘The Wild Woodbines’ (less bass player) – Harry, Ron & Ian gave us:- ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ ,‘?’, ‘Mojo Working’ Heather & crew were up`n`rocking next:- Heather (voc) Bryan (gtr) Johnny C (gtr) Rich (bass) Evan (drums) Jim (sax) ‘Midnight Hour’ Geeza (keys) then joined in for ‘Stormy Monday’ Vicki (vocals) then sang ‘Long Train Running’ with Heather. We have not seen Vic for a while and she came along with her folks as it was Mum’s Birthday they’d been for a meal and fancied a dessert of Jamming (don’t leave it so long next time Vic!) Only a few weeks old and born out of the jam ‘Cold Shot’ were on stage next showcasing some songs they will be performing at their up and coming gig (SEE GIG GUIDE). Chris P (gtr, voc) Matt (gtr) Pete (bass) Mario (drums) ‘Nothing To Do With Love’ ‘Fool For Your Stockings’ ‘Hard Too Handle’ Stuart (voc, harp) was next up with Bryan (gtr) Paul McDermott (bass) Gary (drums) Tom (gtr). Stu went straight into his set leaving some players in his dust, most bemused by what was happening but it was jammin`in style. ‘Ramblin’ On My Mind’ Tom left the stage. ‘You Don’t Love Me’ When Stevie (voc, gtr) stepped up to the plate with Tony M (bass) Mario (drums) Jonny G (gtr), he was toting another new addition to his guitar collection, this Hendrix signature white Fender Strat. has a magnificent tone. forget pedals get one of these if you want THAT sound. ‘Knocking On Heavens Door’, ‘Hey Joe’ The set was reggae tinged with Johnny, Tony and Maz right in the groove, TM stepped down for Rich & Stokesy to get back bluesing with JG taking lead vocals & guitar Jonny G (voc, gtr), Stevie (gtr), Rich (bass), Mario (drums), Tony S(harp) ‘After Midnight’, ‘Little Queen of Spades’ Time to close the live music crept up, so the finale was featuring the massed ranks of Heather (voc) Vicki (voc) Geeza (keys) Mario (drums) Bryan (gtr) Matt (gtr) Jonny G (gtr) Tony S(harp) Tony M(bass). ‘Shaking All Over’ ‘Mustang Sally’ A great night, if not the best so far this year, a lot of people were impressed by all the playing, and the surprise to witness the ‘Wild Woodies’ from Sutton and the talents of Vicky. Support your jam, introduce more people and drink more beer ! TM/MT |
