Tonight’s house gang turned up to be Jason (drums), Matt (Guitar), Tony (bass), Tony Stokes (harp), Justin (guitar). After an introductory noodling and then some level setting noodling, the noodling became more advanced and evolved into extensive noodling, the first tune a slow blues was scored as it was played. Next we had ‘Fulsom Prison Blues’ or thereabouts, where upon Big Bad John joined for vocal. The next tune to get treatment was ‘Red House’ where Chris P was called upon to sing.
Steve Cash (vocal), Evan (drums), Russ (Guitar) Ben (guitar) Pete (bass) took us through ‘Crossroads’, ‘5 Long Years’ and ‘Call Me The Breeze’. Some nice Slide guitar from Ben during this set! Jonny G (vocal, Guitar), Justin (guitar), Evan (drums), Richard (bass) Tony Stokes (harp) - treated us to ‘Key To The Highway’, ‘Every Day I Have The Blues’ and ‘Stop Breaking Down’ Obligatory false starts almost became mandatory with this line up ! Chris P (vocal, Guitar), Matt (Guitar), Pete (bass), Jason (drums) performed an all rock set comprising ‘Fool For Your Stockings’, ‘Hard To Handle’ and that well known blues tune ‘Ziggy Stardust’ !! Heather (vocal), Jonny G (Guitar), Bouncin’ Paul (bass), Ben (guitar), Gary, (drums) Jim (Mc.Sax). ‘Hoochie Coochie Flan’, ‘Stormy Monday’ and ‘Jonny GB Good’ ! The hounds were let loose for the finale! Jim, Justin, Jonny G, Tony M, Tony S, Matt played instruments as previously noted and Steve Cash sang ‘Old Love’ and ‘The Hunter’. Tony M was one D string short of a full bass following this set but our hero persevered to the end! Noted by our under duress reporter Russ …. There were about eight performances of that classic Chinese track ‘Tu-Ning’. Atmospheric conditions obviously took it’s toll on various instruments. The strange thing is nobody really noticed. I can only conclude that the usual standard of playing was observed !! Tony M was flashing around with his new camera all evening and this week, as a result, we have a record 54 pictures ! Thanks Tony ! Well all in all it was quite a good night and a good audience turnout was also noted - see pictures. Matt, Russ |
