Corinium Calling |

Corinium Calling is the name of the forthcoming compilation album which features the best of Gloucestershire rock bands.
Their is no remit, it's just good music and good songs. If there was a great R&B or Rap tune, I'd consider it as long as I liked it and it was from a local artist who really wanted to get behind the album. As it is the music is mainly rock and metal, which is my area. My band is Raison D'etre and I came up with the idea partly because I wanted to make a name for us and to get our music in shops and out to a wider audience, but also because I knew there were really great bands around. Many people have helped me. The main support has come from Rupert Irving (Crayfish, Morph, JTAR, Athufaena's Puzzle etc), Chip (of the 2pigs Cheltenham), George Moorey (Wired Project), Warren Green (of the Pig Inn Gloucester), Colin Heartley the musicians union rep for the south and Cloughie from Lansdown studios. We're aiming to print 1,000 copies of the CD and to do that we need to raise near to £1,000. The printing costs for 1,000 CDs vary from £650 +VAT to £810+VAT, and on top of that there are other outgoing costs like paying for transport, P.A. hire, sound engineers and maybe some recording (as well as some surprising factors, like eating). Originally I was attempting to do this as some sort of youth music project or charity venture, but then I would be constricted in many ways which weren't going to be conducive to good music. The only way to have complete control is for me to run it like a business, which it is. |
Corinium Calling will be the first CD available from Raison D'etre records.
The album is a promotional tool for the bands. It's their oppurtunity to be on a CD where potentially thousands will hear their music. In payment for their contribution I hope to give each band 10 copies of the album each to sell for their own profit. They will keep all rights to their work and I will just be promoting it as a service for free, which would usually cost a lot of money, time and effort. The positives from this are the fact they will get their music out. So far, The Standard, Egg and Glos Echo have covered the story mentioning bands names and their next gigs. Usually there would be a large advertising fee for that sort of thing. On top of that, other people interested in covering the CD are GWR, BBC Gloucestershire and other publications. What I need are other people to really help me out by getting behind the project, whether they're in bands or not. For the gig at the Rock in Cirencester, there are books of tickets you could sell for me, where for every £3 a ticket is sold for, you could make £1. If you're interested in this please e-mail me on Ev_215@hotmail.com Also there are many fliers which could do with handing out, if you were to help with this you would get free entry into the gigs. Thanks for reading, Evan. Visit some of the wonderful Corinium Calling artists websites, listed below. Featuring the best of everything in the area! |
