Dean is a native East Bay resident. When he was 15 years old, a Swedish exchange student living in Dean's house in Dublin chose Dean's direction in life. This Exchange student was a drummer, and a part-time guitar player. He taught Dean how to play the drums (and after 21 years, they still keep in touch!). So, Dean's parents bought him a Drum kit, and his brother got the guitar.
