Gear - Stage/Studio Guitar Rack
The Guitar is plugged directly into the Marshall JMP-1 Valve/Tube Midi Pre-amp via the Korg Toneworks DTR-1 Tuner. A Boss SE50 Stereo Effects Processor is connected to the send / return loop on the JMP-1. The SE50 takes it's program changes from the JMP-1. When recording the speaker emulated stereo outputs of the JMP-1 are fed directly into the mixer. For Live use the JMP-1 master outputs are fed into a Marshall 80+80 Valvestate power amplifier driving a stereo 2x12 200 watt speaker cabinet. The cabinet contains two Fane Classic speakers. On the floor controlling the JMP-1 via Midi I use a Nobles MF-1 Foot Controller unit. This gives me 99 i.e plenty of configuration settings! It's like a 99 channel amp ! This lot is contained within a 19" 5U rack together with the Korg DTR-1 Tuner which can be muted via a footswitch for tuning on the fly.
In 2006 some modifications were made to this failrly long standing setup. Firstly the Boss Se-50 was replaced by the TC Electronics G-Major effects unit. The G-Major also made the Korg tuner redundant as it has a tuner built in. Secondly the 2x12 was replaced with a Marshall 1936 2x12 Cabinet.
