How can this program help our band or label?
You’ve worked hard writing, recording and producing your new CD. It’s now time to give it the attention it deserves. OnlineRock will develop compelling press material for your release and get it to leading online music publications, so that your music reaches the widest possible audience. We’ve been doing this type work for nearly ten years and have established many relationships throughout the industry. We focus on online publications so that, once a new fan reads about you, they can instantly click to your Web site, sign-up for your email list or buy your music.
How does the program work?
First off, you submit your music for consideration. We want to ensure we can promote your CD with enthusiasm. Once approved, you provide us with information about your band, 75 unwrapped CDs and payment in full. Within two weeks of receiving everything, we send you the press release and one-sheet we’ve written for your review and approval. Then we begin the program, taking into account your scheduled release date to ensure maximum coverage.
What is the timing of the program?
We recommend starting the program at least one to two months before the CD’s official release date. Your press release reaches 10,000 journalists by wire distribution at the same time the CD packages are mailed. We follow up with publications that were mailed your CD promo package after 30, 60 and 90 days. You receive monthly status reports and a final report after 90 days.
What sort of results do you guarantee?
While we will do everything in our power to place your CD in the hands of the right people at the right venues, we can not guarantee that they will review your music favorably or that they’ll review it at all.
What past successes have you had?
Over the years our marketing efforts have landed film and TV placements along with CD reviews and interviews in leading online and traditional publications. These include NBC, BBC and MTV, as well as Billboard, Pop Culture Press and Esopus.
What can our band do to ensure the program’s success?
It’s important for your band to have an online presence before we send out material. That includes a Web site and/or a MySpace page. We also suggest offering your music through iTunes and other online music stores. CD Baby or TuneCore can help you with this. Also, when you supply information on your release, please be as specific as possible so that we can develop the appropriate press materials.
Once we’ve shipped our CD’s to OnlineRock, are there any additional costs that we should know about?
The package is all-inclusive and covers all expenses associated with press release wire distribution and shipping and handling of all CD promo packages. We even account for 25% resends (CD gets lost in the mail or the publication misplaces it) without any additional charges.
