Born from a collaboration between Morrie Backun and Ricardo Morales, the Principal Clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Backun-Morales Eb Clarinet Mouthpiece offers the player a highly refined sound and great security. Made to exact specification via CNC technology, every Backun-Morales mouthpiece is a true gem.

Together with Ricardo Morales, Morrie Backun designed and prototyped these custom clarinet mouthpieces. These mouthpieces feature complex CNC (Computer Numeric Control) technology, in addition to the utilization of laser cutting and modification. They take advantage of the laws of physics and science with the use of The Boundary Layer—a complex property that increases the vibration and response of the reed, as it floats on the mouthpiece table. A series of grooves complete the Resonance Tempering—a technique that was devised to strengthen the tip, table, and rails of the mouthpiece in order to assure accurate facings and specifications that can be reproduced time and time again.
