Distinctive Yamaha spline joint and vintage sound treatment creates a 5-string bass that looks and
sounds like it's been played for decades.
From Yamaha comes the BB2025X, a wild 5-string electric bass with a pickguard and a metal plate mounted
under a control board. The electronics and EQ controls provide a distinguished bass tone, with power and dimension to turn
heads and shake some butts.
Yamaha BB bass body
While the body of the Yamaha 5-string bass is inherited from their original BB, the neck is positioned 5mm deeper into the
BB body creating a more rigid design that improves sound and attack.
Pickups
Both front and rear pickups on the BB2025X bass guitar are specially invented for this particular series. Pursuing ultimate
passive sound, "Open Face Pickups" are used to cope with even aggressive picking of rock players.
5-piece
neck
The electric bass' necks consist of maple and mahogany. It provides durability and prevents necks from warping and curling.
Spline joint
The Yamaha BB2025X 5-string bass has employed a 3-piece body structure with which its bridge is placed on the center piece
in order to translate the maximum amount of string vibration to the body. Instead of simply gluing wood pieces, Yamaha inserts
a maple plate, called a "spline", into a slot on the bass guitar's joint sections. By doing that, Yamaha has succeeded in
obtaining as much body vibration as a 1-piece body with this 3-piece body structure.
Diagonal body-thru stringing
Strings on this Yamaha bass are angled at 45 degrees at the saddle to reduce the stress and secure their tension. Moreover,
because the attachment area of strings to saddles is larger than conventional vertical stringing, much better transmission
of vibration is obtained.
Nickel silver nut
Nickel Silver is selected for nut. It is the same material with fret wires. Unlike conventional bone or artificial ivory nut,
it gives the same sound quality and feeling even when open notes are played. For any bass players it is a crucial part of
well-defined low end.
ARE (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
This environmentally-friendly non-chemical technique transforms the wood to give a superb sound. Using precise control of
temperature, humidity, and pressure, this technology alters the structure of the Yamaha bass' wood at a sub-cellular level,
transforming it into the same material as would be founds on an instrument that's been played for many years, into a material
that resonates beautifully. ARE technology brings this 5-string bass guitar to life, sounding great from the moment you pick
it up.
IRA (Initial Response Acceleration)
IRA is a special process that involves resonating the guitar at a certain frequency when it's finished being built, and it's
strung and tuned. It actually has the same physical effect as years of gigging, playing. This corresponds to greater sustain,
better high frequency response and, overall, just a more lively, open sound.
Both IRA and ARE technologies are applied
to the Yamaha BB2025X bass guitar. With this chemical-free treatment, the bass sounds silky smooth and mature right out of
a factory.
The Yamaha BB series electric basses boast all the classic characteristics of the original BBs, from the
distinctive big body design and bolt-on neck to vintage-style hardware and pickups.
