24-channel hard disk recorder with built-in CF card slot for easy backup and file transfer.
The Fostex D2424LV mk2, successor to the renowned D2424, offers a new solution for both backup and stress-free
file transfer to computer: a built-in CF card slot. The Fostex D2424LV digital recorder's high-definition recording engine
offers sonically pure, no-compromise, non-compressed 24-bit/96kHz multitrack recording—all under the control of FDMS-3,
Fostex's intelligent disk management software.
Fostex D2424LVmk2 digital recorder at a glance:
•Ideal for live sound recording or studio use
•24 balanced TRS jacks for all analog I/O
•6 recording formats
•24-bit/96kHz resolution
•CF card slot on the second bay for handy backup
24 tracks recorder with balanced I/O
No matter what the performance is, rock, theatrical, jazz, or worship, you need inputs. So for maximum flexibility, each of
the Fostex D2424LV mk2's 24 tracks has it's own balanced TRS input and output, which can be set to function as +4dBu balanced
or -10dBV unbalanced, ensuring maximum connectivity with professional and consumer gear. In addition to the analog I/O, the
Fostex digital recorder has three ADAT ports (24 channels at 24-bit/48kHz) for connection to digital consoles and other lightpipe-equipped
gear.
Awesome audio quality
With high-quality 24-bit conversion, the Fostex D2424LV's high-definition recording engine offers sonically pure, no-compromise,
non-compressed multitrack recording in one of six possible audio resolutions (24-bit-44.1, 48, 88.2, 96kHz; 16-bit/44.1, 48kHz).
Incredible ease of use
When the muse strikes and artists are ready to record, the last thing you need is a multitrack recorder that's difficult to
use. Thanks to a straightforward interface that provides easy access to all necessary functions, the Fostex D2424LV digital
recorder makes the recording process invisible so that engineer, producer, and artists can focus on performance. The front-panel
remote can be located up to 10 meters (30") from the recorder (with optional Model 8551B x 2), while individual tracks can
be named and exchanged with ease. Usability is further enhanced by the Fostex recorder's All Input and All Ready functions,
which allow you to check all input signals and arm all tracks with a single button push. The jog/shuttle wheel and Prev/Next
keys let you store and recall up to the 99 locate points. Other features on the 24-track digital recorder include a Mark/Stop
function that stops the Fostex D2424LV automatically at a preset Mark point; Program Chain Play, which allows for a compilation
of programs to be played back in a certain order; and footswitch control for start/stop as well as punch in/out functions.
Recordings can be backed up in the built-in CF card slot, DAT, ADAT, or to an optional secondary internal hard drive.
Sophisticated
audio editing
The Fostex D2424LV digital recorder offers powerful non-linear editing features aided by graphic waveform display. Copy/Move
and Paste is available across tracks or song programs. The undo function is worthy of a special; the number of undo available
is only limited by the disk space available. If you wish to take audio editing and processing further, you can export and
import tracks, regions of tracks, or complete songs as WAV files to a FAT32 formatted CF card. This allows editing, processing,
and sound file conversion to be done on a PC. The Fostex recorder can choose between three time bases (ABS, MTC, and bar/beat/clock)
and have up to 64 tempo and signature changes per song, plus a virtual timecode track, which leaves all recording tracks free
for audio.
Interfacing
The digital recorder's built-in word clock I/O lets you keep multiple digital devices in sync while RS422 support is also
offered for remote control. Interface options can be further enhanced via a range of dealer/distributor-installed optional
timecode and Ethernet cards. Model 8346 timecode card chases and locks to incoming LTC with the option of referencing to Video
or Word clock. In addition, the Fostex D2424LV offers compatibility with RS422, video editors, and other professional tools.
