Top quality outfit for maintaining good playing condition.
The Gemeinhardt Flute Cleaning Kit includes impregnated polishing mitt, flute body handkerchief swab,
headjoint swab, 3 flute swab cloths, a small duster brush, and key and hinge oiler.
The handkerchief swab should be
used following each session of play or practice of the flute. The weighted end should be dropped through the body and foot
joint with the headjoint removed. 2 or 3 pulls through the instrument will soak up moisture and prevent both sticking pads
and odors.
The unique headjoint swab fits into the end of your cleaning rod. The 2 flaps should be folded together
and inserted in the slot in the rod. The hooded portion should be folded back over the rod and the rod inserted into the open
end of the headjoint until it is just touching the closed end (tuning cork assembly) of the headjoint. 2 or 3 passes in and
out will clear condensation build-up.
The double end duster brush is used to clean the area where the moving parts
of your flute come together. You will see that dust, lint, moisture, and other materials seem to gather at these points. Brushes
should always be used dry. No water or oil should be used on the brush.
The key and hinge oiler is a remarkable oiling
device, allowing you to place a small drop of highly refined oil on the hinge tubing next to the posts. Oil should not be
added if hinges and screws are not thoroughly cleaned. Extreme care should be taken to never let any oil touch the pads of
the flute.
Your polishing mitt is already treated with a special cleaner and polish for the finish of your instrument.
Do not use additional commercial silver polish to clean or shine your flute. The mitt is lined to help prevent both the cleaner
and moisture from contacting your hand.
