The drum assembly has a 3/16" thick steel rim that rings like a tone-ring. The lefty banjo's 24-piece flange and steel rim give you a very enjoyable tone. The flange design allows you to convert this Deering banjo to open-back by removing the flange pieces and resonator. High quality sealed guitar-style tuners have an accurate 6:1 gear ratio. The thick steel rim which is unique to the Deering line produces a superior tone similar to a bronze tone-ring. Comes with a hardshell case.
