This charming piano solo calls to mind a child's curiosity and fascination with a prized heirloom -
a grandfather's pock watch. The piece happily ticks along in alternating hand staccato notes with simply LH crossovers. Then,
the music imitates the watch as it begins to run down, slowing until it stops completely with a long fermata. The B section
depicts grandfather winding the watch and the A return sets off ticking happily once more until the end. A delightful way
to introduce students to alternating-hand staccato, crossover and easy shifts in hand position, all within simple 5-finger
pattern positions. HLSPL Level 3 Late Elementary piano solo.4/4. 3 pgs., 35 measures. Tempo: Brightly; G Major 5-finger patterns.
ABA form. Moderate use of hand position shifts, staying within an easy range of motion. Accidentals; 8va; LH crossovers. Alternating
hand Legato and staccato articulation. Perf. time: 1 min. 9 seconds
